Hillcrest Convalescent Center is a unique senior living environment that marries the support of a full-scale healthcare facility with the comforts of home. When it came time for renovations and much needed expansion, Hillcrest’s administrators wanted to do more than renovate their facility, they looked to Jane Cramer of the Cramer & Wilson design team and Milliken to help make residents feel at home – not like they were living in an institution.
Milliken’s carpet was a preferred product for the senior-living center for many reasons.
• Not only does it provide a safe floor for seniors, but a warm aesthetic reminiscent of the comforts of home.
• Other benefits include vital antimicrobial protection and enough durability to withstand cart and wheelchair traffic.
Incorporating Hillcrest’s vision of a “household concept,” Milliken’s Senior Living collection allowed them the flexibility to customize colors and preferred patterns, such as images of brick, grass and pebbles.
Milliken Associate David Potter describes their intentions for the flooring, “We had a story to tell with this carpet design. We wanted to give residents and guests a ‘town square’ feel to this space, while keeping an image of elegance.”
